- LAST SUNDAY, more than 80 members of the 30-something ‘Soccer League participated in a fun-oriented tournament at Klahanie Park in West Vancouver. ° -30-something league wraps winter season THE NORTH Shore 30-some- thing Women’s Soccer League wrapped up its winter season last Sunday with a fun tournament at Klahanie Park in West Vancouver. “Over 80 women took part in the event. _ ".:Teams were selected at random ‘and games were just 15 minutes long, but according to league orga- nizer Linda-Sullivan, by lunch- “time everyone was thoroughly - “exhausted. 3.07.00 . ~.*” Add to this the fact that the field ' was lined:for rugby, not soccer, and that the rules of play were the same as pee wee soccer, and you get-an idea of the competitive nature of this league. .“When someone said play on the forward line I ran out and played there even though I’ve never played in that position before,” said Sue Bewley. “It was -a lot of fun.” : ‘A The league is the only one in Greater Vancouver designed for women over 30 who want to play recreational soccer. ; “It. was formed to encourage fun, to provide fitness and develop friendships,” Sullivan says.
