Soccer | feam \celebrates| 7 ‘THE ORIGINAL 1956 North Vancouver Burdett Beavers soccer team will celebrate a 30-year an- niversary Saturday with an exhib- ition match at North Vancouver's Capilano College Lillooet Park starting at 2 p.in. The original Burdett team won one provincial cup, three Mainland Cups and four league champion- ships in eight seasons under the guidance of founding coach Fen Burdett, the North Shore’s citizen of the year in 1972 and with the play of such former North Van- couver soccer greats as Trev Harvey and Jimmie Wardiaw. The Burdett soccer organization was originally formed by boys who could not find any other place to play. The familiar white and green Burdett colors were eventually worn by over 18 teams and 275 players before the organization fell victim to declining player enrol- ment.
