McCarthy, introduced by Social Credit party president Meldy Harris, defended the government's restraint moves and spoke of a vibrant future for the appreciative crowd. “*I’m sure that you are get- ting telephone calls from your friends in other pro- vinces who are saying that we’re having a bad time of it,’’ she said.‘‘But we’re also hearing them say that they sure wish they had someone in their province like Bill Bennett. Do you think they’ll keep all those people in Vancouver?’’ she asked. ‘‘You are going to make it so attractive they’ll want to come over here.
