As a frequent user and visitor of Lynn Canyon Park, where I have walked the forest trails with my dog for years, down to the river bed and other areas, I felt that I must remark on the work be- ing done by the Scouting Group, which I understand is being financed by a joint Federal/ Provincial grant. These young people have been working on the trails which wind down and around the canyon and they are doing a marvellous job rebuilding in places and,-. repairing the trails that were. so badly damaged, yes and washed out by the flooding conditions we experienced -in-the storm of early 0 October , 1981. This project was badly needed and is really worth- while and it certainly will be appreciated by the numerous trail walkers, like myself who get so much pleasure * walking the forest trails which seem so far away from the bustle and rush of traffic on city streets which are not so far away from this quiet area of the Park. It would be remiss of me not to mention the work done by the Municipality some months ago in replac- ing the ‘safety’ wire fence and making repairs to sec- tions that the hoodlums and vandals had torn down over past years, this also is a work most appreciated. At the time of the torrent in the Creek I was amazed at the power of that rushing water which not only formed a lake over the lower bed of the river and surrounding ground, but also washed the ‘island’ half away leaving piles of logs and debris, and also washed away a good deal of the 80 foot high cliff which lined the west side of the creek, along which was the original wire fence and trail. So congratulations to all responsible people who were involved in this work. M.J. Olsen North Vancouver Amazed at mayor over Grouse Dear Editor: §.
