NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP Supt. Bob Byam officia'ly opened the detachment’s first communi-
ty policing office at 232 Lonsdale Ave., recently as constables Marty Blais, left and John Mac-
Dougall look on. The office will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. initially, after which time the
hours will be extended. Const. Rino LeClerc is the officer-in-charge of the new store-front
policing office and will be working with several volunteers. The purpose of the office is to bring
the police and the community closer together to build a safer and healthier community.

Former NVC fire chief dies
