CYCLING... Alison
Sydor, Leslie Tomlinson
and Bruce Spicer have been
honored for their work on
the Kids on the Shore
mountainbike program.
Sydor and Tomlinson, of
North Vancouver, and
Vancouver’s Spicer were
given the Community
Leadership = Award — last
Thursday evening in
Victoria. during the 1997
National Cycling Centre
Awards Gala. The trio
played an integral part in
helping to launch and devel-
op the North Shore pro-
gram — dedicated to get-
ting kids involved in moun-
tain bike racing — earlier
this year.
In addition, Sydor was
named Female Mountain
Bike Athlete of the year.
Though not one of her best
scasons on the World Cup
trail, the three-time world
champions posted three sec-
ond place finishes, two
thirds and a fourth.

her world-beater form
throughout the season.
