Taking ths bus from Vancouver at the beginning of every sum- mer along Marine Drive to catch the terry to Fassage 5, 1 pe cone ER "Tim Renshaw, North 8) eye long- 33 years in Dundarave For the past 33 years, Fales has owned and operated Flowers by Lily. in the West Vancouver community of Dundarave. “Itall started as just a week- end conversation with my brother who was operating Al's Meats at the back of the IGA store,” Fales says of her decision to open up shop in Dundarave. “He said I should go into business for myself, and before 1 knew it T was run- ning a store at 2456 Marine Drive.” The early beginnings were marked by the growing pains of West Vancouver in the 1960s. “When I first moved over here from Vancouver there was no boulevard,” recalls Fales of her April 4, 1963 opening. : “There were vacant fots all over the place-and we still waiked on wooden sidewalks. Move ahead three decades ° and Dundarave shares little with that picture. Save Lily.
