This week i have an update on the status of that motion, as weil as k some detalis about how the Liberals continue to favour the Bloc Quebecols, ahead of Reform. _ As predicted, on Monday, March 18, | 1996, the Liberals used their majority to { force through their “amendrnent” to Jim's motion. The “amendment” removed all of f the words in Jim's motion except for one, the word “that”. The Liberals then placed f their own words after the word “that”, removing all references to sedition as the E basis for the motion. Their motion, which is f not ever remotely similar to the original, reads: “That the matier of the communique of the member for Charlesbourg released on f October 26, 1995, with reference to members of the Canadian Armed Forces be § referred to the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs.” The “amending” of Jim’s motion came as no surprise, but it DID come as a surprise when the Speaker told Jim that it is 4 traditional for an MP who lays charges against another MP to resign if that MF is , found to be not guilty. What travesty of | justice it would be if the Libera! dominated . committea, passing judgment based on the Liberal “amended” motion, finds that Jean Marc Jacob has nothing to answer for, and demands Jim's resignation.
