"Y¥" stays longer at Inglewood THE NORTH Shore branch of the YMCA of Greater Vancouver recently received an extension from the municipali- ty of West Vancouver, allowing the Inglewood building and programs to continue until Aug. , 1995, “The eight-month extension of our lease is positive news since it means we can continue to offer pro- grams to the community.” said Jim Wiggins, general manager of the YMCA. “The extended partnership between the municipality of West Vancouver and the YMCA gives both agencies time to work together on relocating the teen drop-in centre and youth outreach programs as well as YMCA programs and services.” The YMCA will continue to have a presence on the North Shore even alter the closure date as staff members continue to explore the availability of other community facilities wherever possible. Closure of the North Shore facili- ty is based on economic circum- stances. When the YMCA moved into the Inglewood facility. rental charge on the space was only $1 per year. This allowed the organization to offer a wide range of programs and sub-lease space to many other groups. But costs have consistently exceeded revenues. The YMCA has no guarantee of claim to the Inglewood facility fol- lowing the agreed upon extension, The YMCA has served the North Shore since 1945, KIDS FOLLOW THE WATER SAFETY RULES Bring this coupon and receive | tb. of Homemade Potato Salad FREE with any 500 g deli meat purchase.
