Altima’s frequency of repair record was “Much Better ethan Average.” with 83% of Altima owners reporting they were “Very Satistied.” . . The Subaru Legacy, though not rated for 1993 because of insuffi- cient data, has an excellent 1992 record. Ninety-four per cent of buy- ers were “Very Satisfied.” The Legacy features available all-wheel-drive and a horizontally opposed four-cylindes engine. Also, because it’s nota very popular car, its base price of $19,995 is very negotiable. Inthe mid-sized category, the Buick Century and Buick LeSabre made the list. . The 199° Century had a “Much Better than Average” record of reli- ability, with 83% of its owners being “Very Satisfied.” Though it starts at $20,673, the Century can be bought for much less at many dealerships. The LeSabre, at $25,040, offers the comfort and luxury of more expen- sive luxury cars at a relatively affordable price. A full 100% of LeSabre owners said they would buy another, while 87% reported they were “Very Satisfied” with their choice. The Oldsmohile 88, which uses the same 3.8-litre V6 engine and platform as the LeSabre, registered a “Much Better than Average” reli- ability rating, and a high 85% owner loyaity. Its base price is $25,940. Other North American winners are the Ford Thunderbird and Mercury Cougar, These rear-wheel-drive coupes rated “Much Better than Average” in reliability with 80% of owners being “Very Satisfied.” The base price of the Cougar is $20,895, the Thunderbird $21,895, The only full-size car that made it to the list was the Ford LTD/ Mercury Grand Marquis, a tradi- tional rear-wheel-drive, six-passen- ger sedan with a 4.6-litre V8 engine. Eighty-three per cent of owners were “Very Satisfied” and 95% said they would buy another.
