PANORAMA Studios are
up for sale and the future of

West Vancouver's fledgling -

film industry looks doomed.

West .Yancouver Council

. received a second proposal

from Polygon Develop-

ments, which has an option
on the Panorama property.

The proposal is to change
the studio property from in-
dustrial to a_ high-density
residential zone.

Polygon wants to con-
struct 42 dwellings in seven
duplex and six quadraplex
buildings.

John Powell of Panorama
Estates said that he was torn
between two goals.

As a’ businessman he
wants to sell the property
and does not.care who buys
it as long as the price is paid,
but as‘an owner of the stu-
dios he still would like the
property to be a part of the
film industry.

But Powell iater
guaranteed, at Mayor Der-
rick Humphrey’s request,
that Polygon’s option would
hold until council decided
whether to accept the pro-
posal or not.

Humphreys warned the
process could take up to as
much as four months to fi-
nally make a decision.

Council initially rejected
Polygon’s application for
building 56 units in apart-
ment and duplex format.

Council referred the pres-
ent application to the Advi-
sory Planning Commission
and Advisory Design Panel,
