COMMUNITY NEWS Cypress Bowl favorites found in recipe book TWO POPULAR recipes that have been served throughout the years at the Cypress Bowl cafeteria are a secret no longer. They are two out of over 250 dishes contained in the recently published Appetite for Living, a compilation of favorite recipes of B.C. Parks employees from Nor- thern B.C. and the Kootenays, the Lower Mainland, Cariboo/ Shuswap and Vancouver Island. Also included are recipes from past and present. parks ministers and Premier Bill Vander Zalm, who submitted his ‘‘easy to make, nutritious and very tasty’’ cabbage with nutmeg recipe. Both. the Cypress Bowl recipes included by North Vancouver cookbook author Gerry Smith, an information officer with the South Coast Regional office of B.C. Parks, will be welcome pick-me- ups during our dark winter even- ings. The first recipe, for clam chowder, is especially valuable as it is no longer being served at Cypress Bowl. Appetite for Living is available at many bookstores throughout the Lower Mainland.
