Options for local volunteers

MANY NON-PROEET agencies
ace ocurrently planning their
autuinn programming. Now is the
time to sign up as a volunteer to
help them and to take advantage
of fall training sessions.

The following are a few of the
options available to North Shore
volunteers.

THE CHAIRPERSON’S ASSIS-
TANT for a busy hospital candy-
striper program will assist with the
recruiting and training of teenage
boys and girls. To qualify for this
position vou should enjoy working

ty and be able to give at least one
day per week between 4:50 and
6:30 p.m. Attendance at some aus-

evenings for your volunteers,

AN ASSISTANT is needed tor a
non-profit second-hand = store
located on f.onsdale, North Van-
couver. A minimum four hour per
week commitment is required.

quired by a North Vancouver
seniors’ centre. You can help if
you are available to teach one hour

per week (specific times negotia-
ble), There ate no ave restrictions
for instructors but you must work
well with older adults.
EITBRARY BOOK
DISTRIBUTORS are needed for
the long-term care division of a
major public hospital on the North
Shore. Volunteers should be able
to give one four-hour shift) per
week, at their convenience. You
should, however, be available in
the daytime. Hf you enjoy working
with seniors, this is the job for
you!

HOSPITAL ASSISTANTS to help
patients walk from their rooms to
a volunteer haisdresser’s shop
(within the complex) are needed by
a North Shore private hospital.
You will be assuring the safety of
residents as well as providing
valuable companionship. Help
Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, 9
a.m. to noon.
