Vacation in Canada. Tour Beautiful B.C. Spend your vacation doflars at

home.

Such exhortations arc featured in every newspaper and magazine and '

many people are heeding the message and enjoying the treasures in our own
; backyard. But there are more.than black flies and mosquitoes to make fife

’ in our backyard miserable.

Relatives took the B.C. tour starting from Tumbler Ridge via Smithers
and other points of call, arriving in’ Horseshoe Bay where they put our -
granddaughter on the ferry for visit with us while they went off to sunny

_Surrey and beyond,

Arriving early for the ferry, they parked their camper van ina legal park=
ing place while they went to fiave.a meal in a restaurant near the terminal,

Imagine their chagrin when they came ‘out just in time to see their van
being towed off by the local vultures en route to an unknown destination.

. Inquiries at local businesses revealed that apparently the Scuba Diving

Shop had ‘called North Shore Towing to remove the, vehicle because they
* were not patronizing their establishment, although it Was a perfectly legal

7 parking place. .

"To retrieve their vehicle they had to take a $30 taxi tip and pay a $75.

impoundment charge.

‘Some hospitality from the great Town of Horseshoe Bay. Will they ever
set foot in that mecca again? Not on your nelly. .;

We residents of the Sunshine Coasi spend tens of thousands of dollars i in
** Horseshoe Bay while transiting on the ferries, but | shall:make it my busi-

“ness.to ensure that they take their trade elsewhere in future.
You should be ashamed of a community that treats its visitors in ‘such a

: disgraceful manner. |
