THE FLOAT For Peace And
Planetary Survival is an extension
of the annual Walk For Peace.
While the walkers will walk,
sailors, boaters, kayakers,
canoeists and fishermen will float
their messages of peace and con-
cerns for the environment, from
the rendezvous point at Kitsilano
Beach, under the Burrard Street
Bridge, into False Creek. The

Float will finish at Sunset Beach.

ticipated in the first Fioat For
Peace. It was a colorful and ex-

Landing pier opens

GET NAUTICAL and celebrate
the offical opening of the
Ambleside Landing Pier and park
site on the upcoming West Van-
couver Marine Day.

On May 5, from 10 a.m. to 4
p.m., the area at the foot of t4th
Street will be alive with activity,
beginning with a children’s fishing
derby.

Registration for the derby is
from 6:30 to 10 a.m. at the West
Van McDonald's, where the kids
can also enjoy free hotcakes. The
weigh-in is at {1:30 a.m. followed
by awards.

The popular Galiano Trio will
entertain the crowds with nautical
tunes at 11:30 a.m., and you'll
hear shanty tunes and see Morris
dancers throughout the day. At
noon, an address by Mayor Don
Lanskail will acknowledge all the
government, corporate and private
individuals who contributed to the
development of this site.

If you wander through the land-
ing, you'll see numerous displays
