We chose Louis’ and were
fortunate to get seated with
local people. You have to
take a massive appetite for
the five large courses (soup,
salad, entree of rice with
clams, large unshelled shrimp
and chicken, main course:
steak, plus ice cream or
sherbet and lovely wine.

The locals felt Louis’ was
much better than the Sante
Fe but the price has gone up.
The bill for two of us was
$20.43 including tax and was
worth it.

I’m glad you enjoyed Bas-
que cuisine. If you’re ever in
Winnemucca, don’t miss the
Winnemucca Hotel, but br-
ing an even more massive ap-
petite. In addition, their meal
includes a stew, a baked bean
dish, a vegetable plate and a
scalloped potato and cheese
combo. All servings huge.
Our bill including wine was
about $12 for two, last
Summer.

Don’t bother looking for a
basque restaurant in Las
Vegas — none. Few travellers
are familiar with the food so

My daughter, 19, is leaving
for Europe for two months
on July 2. She has no set
itinerary but will be working
her way south from Britain
ending up meeting her
boyfriend in Spain in August.

From there they will tour
France and Italy. They also
want to visit North Africa.
That part worries me! Any

I'd worry, too. It’s easy to
run into problems there and
I’ve heard horror stories
from kids that would make
your daughter’s skin shrivel!

happen to me’’?

Brian and | took: in Tangier
the guide warned all of us to
stay close together. Just the
previous day, one of his tour
members — an elderly han-
dicapped lady — lagged
behind and was attacked by a
group of thugs who pushed
her into an alley. She was
severely beaten and robbed.
In some parts of North
Africa, two unmarried
members of the opposite sex
travelling together will be
réfused accommodation. The
girl will be considered a slut
and fair game for anyone.
