Many shoppers probably never knew his name, but they got to know him, and to stop and have a chat with him, as he was a daily visitor with his captain’s hat on -- but in a wheelchair and minus twa legs. He loved people and got to know all the girls who worked on the lower floor, joking with them and having coffee . He was an independent person who lived alone, but if you would go into his apartment, you would see many pictures of these girls, put up so he could look at them and remember them all, as they were all his friends. He was formerly from Saskatoon but did business here for many years and his name was David Clarke, 84 years young. He _ passed away on March 14th but he was down at Park Royal the day before, greeting everybody as he had just gotten out of the hospital. The Strong Rehabilitation Centre probably taught him what he had to do about hts handicap, as he knew when things like this happen, new friends have to be found. He never complained but had a greeting for everybody and ™ hse » 4 person t 4 (Salo ends April 21/84) i 12°9 he ‘‘gave’’ rather ‘*took’’ from poeple. He made gifts to give, a silver dollar in a little red case, plus many other things. In times like this I’m sure he reahzed you have to help than yourself, but in doing this he really helped many others happy way and with his Here’s to another 40. Happy Birthday Dorothy.
