A8 - Wednesday, January 11, 1984 - North Shore News Break-in headache AN EARLY morning sneak thief wound up on the wrong end of his own pry bar Saturday in North Vancouver. The occupant of a residence in the 300 block of West Fifteenth Street was awakened by someone prowl- ing through his house just after 7 a.m. Saturday. He spotted the man, who was carrying a_ two-foot length of steel pipe that he had used to pry open a door, and took action. The homeowner surprised the man, wrestled the length of pipe away from him and then smacked him on the side of the head with it. Police arrived to take the man into custody. Charged with breaking and entering is Robert Edward Johnson, 29, of Vancouver. A second weekend break and enter incident went much better for the bad guys. So- meone entered a house in the 1600 block of St. George’s Avenue and made off with an electric shaver, a hairdryer and a portable cassette player. One of the worst hit by the floodwater which poured through the ground floor of the building on the west side of Gallant Avenue iast week was Le Petit Cafe. ’ {it was closed for three days and furniture had to be mov- ed to the sidewalk while the owner got on with mopping up operations. Next door at MHelena’s Honey Goodies Ltd. the water was six inches deep and it ruined more than a thou- sand dollars worth of materials. The flooding occurred dur- ing the heavy rains when water welled up in blocked- up drains behind the building.
