The Metro Hockey
League went into full gear
last week with all six teams
getting their first taste of
action in what promises to
bea hotly contested 1981-82
season.

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, at
North Van} Rec Centre, the
West Van Lions Gate

defeated in capturing the
League and Playoff

into the middle frame for
Lindsay McDonald to
-stretch North Van's lead to
4-1, And before the period
ended the home town team J
rounded out its scoring for
the night with four more off
-the sticks of Stanwood, for
his hat trick, then Murphy
with his second of the game,
and Gord Rae and Dave
Klassen adding markens.
Bruce Bradshaw, Jeff
Durrant and Dan Corrigan
countered for the West Van
team to leave them trailing
8-4 at the end of two.

The Rockets came out .
flying in the third period and
while holding North Van
scoreless were stymied by a
combination of good goal-
tending, goal posts and
missed chances. Only
scoring in the period was by
Jeff Durrant who tallied with
two to pick up a hat trick ina
losing cause.

North Van outshot the
Rockets 36-33 with Mike
Kling and Mike Binns
