Beautiful British Columbia magazine has gone multi- lingual. The magazine's summer issue, published by Tourism B.C., is now available in three additional languages: French, German and Japanese. Some 60,000 Japanese, 35,000 German and 20,000 French copies were added to the normal} English-language press run of 400,000. The multi-lingual cdition coincides with the magazine's 21st anniversary. Tourism and Small Business Development Minister Elwood Veitch said the other-language cditions are being used to boost tourism to B.C. from overseas markets and eastern Canada. The minister said the magazine will be distributed overseas and is also available free to B.C. residents wishing to send copies to their frienda and relatives abroad who are thinking of visiting the province. Japan and Germany are second and third respec- tively to the U.K. in the number of tourists coming to B.C. from countries over- seas, Some 330,000 copies of the magazine are sent to subscribers in 160 countries four times a year; another 50,000 copies are offered for sale on news-stands in B.C. and neighboring provinces and states. This is the magazine's second venture into other- language publishing. Last year, a French version of the spring issue was distributed during the Royal Hudson steam train's tour of castern Canada and the United States.
