What about the cost of belonging to a yacht club? | Clubs differ in their approach to ‘‘social’’ activities and facilities. BYC is a club without costly social facilities and as a resu|t does not have a minimum. use charge and has no social membership category. Members are active boaters and many do their own work on their boats. BYC'S priorities are entirely towards improving service facilities for the members’ use. Costs of membership Include (i) an initiation fee, (tl) for members mooring boats at the club’s facilities, an ownership share [which may be financed over three years], (iii) moorage charges related to size of vessel and type of accommodation and with a modest minimum charge for electricity, etc. and (iv) annual dues. Where, and what, are the Club’s facilities? BYC has recently expanded and improved its tacilities at the foot of Bewicke Avenue in North Vancouver. Open, and some covered, moorage is available for vessela which meet Club requirements. Most spaces are for 24 to 40 foot vessels although some larger berths could be made available. For complete information on membership, please contact Dick Blockberger at 876-2101 (off.) or 266-8900 (res.) or write the Club’s Membership of BURRARD Committee c/o Box 2870, YACHT CLUB vancouver, B.C.
