I want to thank you for your
column The Two Month Love-
Affair Called Christmas. What
you wrote expressed precisely what.
1] have always felt and what experi-
ence has confirmed to be true: that
the expressions of love and caring
generated by the season are well
worth the muney spent on
Christmas cards, gifts, festive fare
and decorations,

I view with regret the slight fall-
ing off in the sending of Christmas
cards. I am often touched to the
heart, moved to tears when I hear
from friends with whom I thought
I had lost touch. I know that it is
the energy of the season which has
prompted them to get in touch.

Christmas and those who create
it every year help to re-weave the
social web of love and affection
which sustains us throughout the
year. Good for you, to have said
all this and more in a lively essay
