Fake account for celiphone ALI Alamdari liked to use his cell- phone. The trouble is, he wasn't using his own money to pay lor the phone. The cellphone WAS SET UP as someone vse's ACCOUNT. Alamdari pleaded guilty last: month to theft by fraudulently using telecommunica- tion property belonging te 4 person call Meesoo Lee. Alamdari, 22, was fined $500 and received 12 months probation for the offence. North Vancouver provincial court Judge Rill Rodgers required Alamdari to pay ‘Telus $1,006. ‘According to the North Vancouver RCMP a cellphone account was set up on Feb. 25 by an unknown person in’ Lee's name. The account was established using, Lee's driver’s licence, social insurance number and fraud birth date. About two weeks later, the phone company contacted Lee who said he didn’t know anything about a cellphone and did not vive anyone permission to activate a cell- phone in his name. Burnaby RCMP and Telus security with the assistance of North Vancouver RCMP traced the cellphone. Ht was being heavily used from a home in the 200-block of East loth Street. Police say thar Alamdari was observed by police coming out of the residence, talking on the cellphone while walking his pit bull on April 15, 1999, Almadari was arrested. Alamdari was sentenced for the telecom- munications thett offence on May 23. The offence was laid under the Criminal Code. Alamdari is currently before the courts charged with possessing heroin and cocaine tor trafficking purposes. —Auna Marie D’Angelo A North Vancouver- raised man was recently jailed four years for two robberies in his home town. Randy Alan Wanek, 29, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the April heists of a 7-Eleven store and a Canada Trust. According to the North Vancouver RCMP, a hooded Wanck had 2 machete and box when he entered the 7- Eleven store at 29th and Lonsdale on April §7. He demanded money and ciga- rettes. The male store clerk placed the items in the box. A partial plate number was obtained from: Wanck's stolen Sunday, June 18, 2000 — North Shore News - 13 vehicle, 31992 white Jeep Cherokee. The next day, Wanck and another man robbed the Canada ‘Trust at Lonsdale at Y8th Street. Both men had knives. Wanek got a “large amount of cash” from_ the teller while the other robber stood at the door. The pair fled in a different stolen vehi- cle, a blue 1995 GMC Jimmy.
