An RCMP bomb disposal squad was called to the high- end Canada Safeway-owned store at Caulfeild Village Shopping Centre to remove 3 miniature bomb. A customer of the super- market found the home-made device in the baby seat of a shopping buggy three metres outside the store’s doors at abour 12:30 p.m. West Vancouver Police spokesman) Const. Scott Simpson, 38, did not show up for court on Oct, 25 in connection with trafficking marijuana charges. Lawyers involved in the case believe Simpson is in Ontario. North Vancouver provincial court issued a warrant for Simpson’s arrest. The warrant applied B.C. wide, but was extended last Thursday to Canada wide. North Vancouver RCMP Const. Heidi Hoffman said the warrant was changed after Simpson did not return calls from his lawyer. Simpson will be charged criminally with failing to appear in court. “Our position is that our detachment is quite embarrassed by this whole thing especially since it has come to this,” said Hoffman. “We just want te sce justice served now as quickly as possible.” Simpson is a 12-year RCMP veteran who worked on patrol in North Vancouver for four years. The charges relate to allegations that Simpson trafficked marijuana to male student teenagers.
