4 ~ Friday, December 1, 1989 - North Shore News Requests for food hampers double last Xmas’s total PREPARATIONS FOR Christmas are starting early for some North Shore families, but sot with the usual parties, shopping and baking most people associate with the holiday season. With 24 days left before Christmas, the requests from fami- lies for food hamper and food voucher applications this year have almost reached 1,000 — double the number of applications in 1988. And the applications are still pouring in, said Pat Orr, chairman of the North Vancouver Christmas Bureau. So there’s more need than ever for volunteers and donations this year. The North Shore News-spon- sored food depots will be going up in locations in North and West Vancouver on Dec. 1 and will be there until Dec. 15. Also needed are volunteers on Saturdays and Sundays for the News’ Christmas Tree of Giving at Park Royal. “I'd like to have enough volun- teers so that people could go for just one four-hour shift so it makes it easy for everyone,’’ Emery says. Experts at Work Cypress Ridge Golf Limited has hired a number of experts to prepare reports on various aspects of the golf course site, and these reports will be given to the Municipality. We commissioned these reports to make ceriain that the golf course enhances the natural terrain, and complements the existing ecology and environment. The reports will be completed within the next two weeks, and we will issue our next progress report at that time.
