honored for work

DR. NORMA Calder of West
Vancouver is among 52 Canadians
who have received the Canada
Volunteer Award Certificate of
Merit for valuable volunteer con-
tributions to the community.

The Certificate of Merit is
awarded each year to recognize
and encourage those who have
made valuable voluntary contribu-
tions towards improving the health
and social well-being of their
fellow citizens.

Dr. Norma Calder has been un-
tiring in her work with the B.C.
Friends of Schizophrenics. She has
devoted countless hours since 1983
to developing new branches of the
organization throughout B.C. as
well as being active at the national
level.

As both a medical doctor and
the mother of two schizophrenic
sons, she has a very special insight
to offer,

Dr. Calder’s goals are to foster
and influence research on
schizophrenia in order to find a
cure and te provide adequate sup-
port programs for schizophrenics
