North Vancouver's part-
time police force should be
back in full operation by
early Névember, according
to a North Van RCMP

cern about liability.

assisting the RCMP on a
volunteer basis and freeing
the police from some of their
routine jobs. ,

Last Friday a_ represen-
tative of the provincial
Attorney. General's office
met with a North Shore
committee concerned with
the auxiliary police.

The RCMP liason with the
committee, Gary Sexsmith,
said the Attorney General's
department has been talking
to -various groups before
making a final decision on
the program.

He said the government is
“tryiag to get some
uniformity" among the
various reserve programs,
and also making sure the
question of liability is set-
tled.

McLean said the
provincial representative
told him he would be putting

Sexmith is confident the
program will be reinstated
soon.

“I don't see any problem
at all,” Sexsmith said. Back
in March, he said the North
Van RCMP were ready to
restart the program as soon
as the go- ahead “ was given.
