The theme of this special year in our own country is “Canada, a Society for all Ages,” with the special pur- pose of recognizing the contribution seniors make te our communities. Brenda kept these squares, wondering how to put them together, until one day she happened to be talking to the Sisters of Instraction of the Child Jesus, located near Queen Mary School. A recently widowed 88-year-old senior has donated space in the large garden of her home for use by seniors from the community. They will work with volunteers to grow vegetables and flowers, including a row of veggies tor the food bank. Thev will also build in features such as raised beds to heip seniors work in the garden — even those who have a disability that makes it difficult to kneel or bend down to the ground. However, there is a need for materials in order to make this project succced. Donations of compost, manure, and concrete tiles or bricks to make a level patio arca would be espe- cially helpful.
