A ride on a Harley would be a
birthday wish come true for
many a young man.

For 71-year-old Oliver Poudrier a trip
up to Grouse Mountain in the sidecar ofa
Harley Davidson was one he never
thought he would experience.

The. long-rime resident of Evergreen
House has only. orie leg, and a stroke has

left him without speech and the use of |

one arm.

North Vancouver's Nancy
MeKerracher met Poudrier ten years ago
when she was working as a care aide at
Evergreen. She no longer works there,
but retains a strong affinity and friendship
for the man she found inside the disabled
body.

ship knew of anyone with a sidecar who
might help.

One lead led to another until Mike
Baynes of White Rock, a foster parent well
known for his big heart, was found.

Baynes not only provided the ride, he
brought along leathers and scarves to out-
fit Poudrier and McKerracher for the trip.

“It brought tears to my eves to see
Oliver’s face with his mouth hanging
down to his bootstraps when he saw the
bike,” said McKerracher.
