Fraud arrests NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP Economic Crime Unit officers arrested two Vancouver men on Dec. 19 in connec- tion with a $1.7 million fraud investigation. Police say the fraud involved the exchange of approxi- mately 10 bank drafts and NSF cheques. Police believe the fraudulent bank drafts and cheques where circulated in the Lower Mainland during the past two months. All the cheques and bank drafts were recovered, according to a North Vancouver RCMP spokesman. Local RCMP arrested the suspects after a one-week investigation. Police declined to give further details to press time. Charges are expected to be laid. The investigation continues. Man jailed A 24-YEAR-OLD West Vancouver man was jailed for nine months on Nov. 20 in connection with a charge of break, enter and theft at the office of North Vancouver-Scymour MLA Daniel Jarvis. John Gordon Green pieaded guilty to the March 22 business burglary charge in Vancouver provincial court. Judge. K.J. Libby ordered Green to pay Jarvis $400 compensation for property damage associated with the incident. Libby recommended that Green serve his sentence in a facility where he could get physical exercise and drug and alcohol counselling. Two other charges against Green were stayed. Those charges included possessing stolen comput- er equipment belonging to Jarvis and possessing break-in instruments consisting of screwdrivers, scissors and and an Exacteo knife. Jarvis’ office is located in the 1500-block of Lynn Valley Road. The office has been the target of several burglaries.
