Heritage weekend features bygone fashions

A PRESENTATION of fashion styles of the "40s, hosted by his-
torian ivan Sayers, will be held on Sept. 16 at the N.V. Museum.

THE NORTH Shore is promising a
weekend full of heritage celebrations
on Sept. 16-18, presented by a num-
ber of organizations including The
City of North Vancouver, the North
and West Vancouver Muse-ums and
Archives, the Districts of North and
West Vancouver and the North
Shore Arts Commission.

The following is a list of heritage
events taking place on the North
Shore:.

@ On Friday, Sept. 16, fashion histo-
rian Ivan Sayers will take us back to
the clothing styles of the war years
with a fashion show. This presenta-
Uion begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are

@ An ongoing free event that will be

open all weekend is the North
Vancouver’s recently opened exhibi-
tion, “Homefront: Shipbuilding and
the North Vancouver Com-munity,
1939-1945." You can see this display
at the North Vancouver Museum,
noon-5 p.m., Sept. 16-18.

i On Saturday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m.
in West Vancouver’s Museum, 680
17th St., there will be a workshop
entitled “Preserving Your Mem-
ories.” Learn how to care for your
photographs, scrapbooks, videotapes
and collectibles. Tickets: $20.

@ “North Vancouver, Circa WWII:
A Walking Tour.” Join museum
curator John Stuart in exploring
North Vancouver as it was during the
war years. This will take place
Saturday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. Tickets

@ “Visions of West Vancouver.”
The new West Van exhibit features a
look at the people and events that
shaped history. Sept. 17, noon to 5

er. Guided by port historian David
Hill-Turner, hear stories from the

@ “Lynn Valley Heritage: Comer to
the Great Divide" is an easy walk to
enjoy heritage buildings, homes,
schools and pioneer personalities
from the Lynn Valley Centre through
the waterways of Hunter Park to the
peak of Boundary Road. Depart from
the Draycott memorial at Lynn
Vailey Road and Mountain

@ Sunday, Sept. (8. “Point Atkinson
Lighthouse National Historic Site
Designation.” A ceremony and cele-
bration designating the point as a
national historic site will recognize
the lighthouse’s contribution to the
development of B.C, Sunday, Sept.
