Accident sends man to LGH A 52-YEAR-OLD West Vancouver man was fisted in stable con- dition Tuesday in Lions Gate Hospital after he was involved in an accident while riding a 10-speed bicycle July 26. West Vancouver police report that Peter Hans Hartman of 1711-2016 Fullerton Ave. sustained a concussion after he lost control) of his bicycle while riding along Cypress Bow! Road in West Vancouver at 12:48 p.m. Police said Hartman, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, either hit some loose asphalt or tangled his clothing in the spokes of his bike. Because Hartman was not carrying any identification, police had asked for the public’s help in identifying the man. But police, after being informed by Hartman's wife that her husband had been missing from a bicycling trip, were later able to identify him. Police advise cyclists to wear helmets and carry identification. Man guilty of pesticide breach A LICENSED pesticide applicator was fined $500 in West Van- couver provincial court recently for a Pesticide Control Act vio- lation that resulted in the death of a domestic pet. Appearing before Judge J.K. Shaw, Blaine Wright, of North Vancouver, pleaded guilty to the unsafe handling of pesticide in connection with an incident that occurred between July 4 and duly 6, 1989. Wright, who works for PCO Services Inc., had applied the rodenticide, bromone, to a locked storage area in a West Vaa- couver apartment building. But he failed to put the chemical jn a tamper-proof box or bait station and three days later a dog died as a result of eating the pesticide, an environment ministry officia) said. Burnaby's PCO Services was also fined $500 in connection with the case. RCMP radar gear ripped off IT WAS a thief with nerves of steel. Last Friday at about 11:30 p.m. a North Vancouver RCMP constable fad a radar trap set up at Mount Seymour Parkway and Plymouth when he stopped a vehicle that was clocked going 118 kph in 2 60-kilometre zone. But as the constable was talking to the motorist, someone stole the radar equipment from the RCMP member's motorcycle. RCMP are now asking for the public’s help in retrieving the radar equipment. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call Spt. Don Miller at 985-1311, local 306. Friday.
