Killer whale
tours offered

TWO FIELD siudy tours to follow
migrating salmon and the atten-
dant Killer whales through the
waters of Blackfish Sound/Robson
Bight off the northeast coast of
Vancouver Island have been orga-
nized,

Sponsored by the University of
British Columbia Centre for Con-
tinuing Education, the tours take
place August 11 to 15 and August
17 to 21,

The lifestyle of the Kwakiutl
people: and history of the
Johnstone Strait area will also be
discussed in the tours.

The tour begins and ends in
Telegraph Cove, a picturesque
boardwalk village on northern

Vancouver Island. Visits to several
abandoned Kwakiutl villages are
included in the landbound portion
of the tours. Seagoing explorations
are on the 60-foot charter vessel
Gikumi.

The fee for each tour is $495 and
includes shared accommodation in
Stubbs Island Charter Ltd. guest
houses, meals, tuition and trans-
portation.

The fee does not include trans-
portation to and from Telegraph
Cove but tour organizers,will assist
with carpooling arrangements.
