Helen Dickinson retired this month

from North Vancouver District

' Dickinson was ‘the district's head.

‘Originally from Alberta,

_ Dickinson was elected president of

‘the Capilano Public Library.

Association in!1960. The associa-
tion was made up of volunteers
who founded the library and
helped to finance the construction
“of its original building.

Afterwards, Dickinson enrolled
in the UBC School of Library
Science program, and was a
member of its first graduating vlass
"in 1962.

Since 1964, she has been in
charge of processing about 170,000
items in the library collection, and
has seen the district. expand to
three branches. These are in
Edgemont Village, in Seycove
Community: School and near the
Lynn Valley mall.
