Traction control and anti-
skid systems

Alf speed traction ‘control
is standard with the V8 engine
and optional with the V6 and
auTamatic Cransmusson,

Ifthe driving wheels begin
to slip, the system works by
applying the brakes on one or
both drive wheels, retarding,
the ignition timing, and
reducing fucl-injection flow
rate. Brake toree is used pre-
dominantly at fow speeds,
while at higher speeds, throt-
tle reduction ig used to mini-
mize wheel spin, This system
has the ability ta control
cither drive wheel indepen-
dently, An on/off button on
the dash allows the driver to
switch off the system if they
so desire,

Optional is a new anti-skid
sytem called AdvanceTrac, a
system that monitors driver
inputs (steering, throttle and
brakes) and vehicle response
(yaw, lateral acceleration and
wheel speed) co controt brake
force distribution and vehicle
stability. This system is effee-
tive on slippery or icy surtaces,
but also helps maintain stabifi-
ty on dry surtaces.

steering with variable-assist
and a power tilt and telescopic

Safety

Since most of the LS cam-

In case of a breakdown, an
optional Remote Emergency
Satellite Cellular Unit
(RESCU) system is available
on V8 models. By pressing a
help request button on the
overhead console, the driver
can summon roadside emer-
gency service. A second but-
ton can be used to request
travel information.
