The award was established in December 1991 to honor Judy Dennis, a founder of the North Shore Arts Commission and a passionate supporter of the arts on the North Shore. Past recipients of the award include Myrtle Mavall, a longtime arts volun: teer and West Van resident and Joan Fowler, who spear- headed fundraising for the construction of the Deep Cove Cultural Centre. Kaario is director of choral studies in the Bachelor of Music ‘Transfer Program at Cap College, and conducts three choirs: the Capilano College Community Choir, the Cecilia Ensemble and the Capilano College Singers. Kaario is also the artistic = director and conductor off Laudate Singers, a semi-pro-§ fessional choral ensemble founded in °95 and based onff “ the North Shore.
