Pitcher Darcy dazzles TEN-YEAR-OLD Darcy Kosterewa continues to dazzle crowds from her pitcher's mound. Playing for the Burnaby Oakeys, this petite North Vancouver baseball player was voted the MVP at the B.C. Squirt Rep B Pro- vincial Championship. This feat is especially unusual because Darcy is playing against girls older than her and her team was not even a medal winner. During the tournament, Darcy pitched a no-hitter against Newton and a one-hittc: against Langley, the eventual silver-medal team in the 12-team tournament. Seymour tops league five Little Leavue Baseball Championstip Tournament was held at North Vancouver's Zueblke Park recent- iy, and it was MEL Seymour who emerged ay this year’s champion, defeating Cypress Park 11-7 in the final gata. Eight teants took part in the highly competitive tournament that was marked by perfect weather and many close games. In fact, of the 14 games played, only three were decided by more than five runs. In the final, Mt. Seymour jumped out to a big lead early on, but Cypress Park fought back to make it a very exciting finish. Mt. THE DISTRICT Seymour completed the ment undefeated. Forest Hilly was selected as the most sportsmaniike team for the second year in a row. Mt, Seymour will aow represent District. Five in the Provincial Championships which will be held in Trail from July 28 to Aug. 5.
