Association of Mathematics Teachers recently. Kokoskin developed and piloted the now provincially prescribed Introductory Algebra 11 course, and his textbook for the course has recently been published. Head of the Mathematics Department at Hand- sworth Secondary School, Kokoskin is also the author of a new textbook, ‘‘Math Essentials.”” Introduced to School District No. 44 school board by Handsworth’s principal, Ken Feyer, Kokoskin was described as a ‘‘distinguished teacher," noted for his enthusiasm and sense of humor. “One of my favorite activities is to visit one of Mr. Kokoskin's classes on a Friday afternoon, when he is just as enthusiastic as he is on Monday,”’ said Feyer. His textbook on the subject, Math Essentials, is be- ing considered for endorsement by the Ministry of Education. Set up to appeal to adult students as well as regular students, it has already been put to use. Congratulated by the board, Kokoskin then thank- ed the school district for allowing the opportunity for initiative in the system. Two other district teachers, Peter Beugger of Ridgeway School and Henry Ewert of Handsworth, have also written books. Beugger is the co-author of a science scries publish- ed by Doubleday Books, while Ewert has written a history of B.C.
