UNDEFEATED SEASON Ladies win A QUICK 5-2 victory over Coquitlam last Sunday marked more than the end of regular season play for the Lynnwood women’s lacrosse team. The win also completed the ladies’ second con- secutive season of un- defeated play, a new first for the highly successful local team. The women now head to the B.C. championships, scheduled for the North Vancouver Recreation Centre this week. The win gives the team a bye into the finals, slated for 7 p.m. Tuesday. The top scorer in the. Coquitlam game was Debbie? Rae, who put in four of her own and assisted on the fifth one. Janice Malcom, recently named to the national field lacrosse team, was credited with the goal. Other assists went to Patti Scott, Sarah Young and Karen Hill. Coquitlam and Burnaby play the opening match of the provincials, with the winner going on to meet Lynnwood. NVRC Cruisers bag seven cups at meet | THERE’S NOTHING like hosting a swim meet and then winning most of the trophies as the North Van Cruisers found out last weekend. The seven-club “B” meet was held at the North, Vancouver Recreation Saturday. vo In addition to many trophy and runner-up honours, the local swim club also bagged first place at the meet with 594 points. Tied for second place with 350 apiece were rival North Shore Marlins and Squamish. In third were the Port Moody Aquarians, with Mount Pleasant/Van Parks, Port Coquitlam Marlins and White Rock rounding out the competitors. Trophy winners for the Cruisers were: Dana Cote (Div. 2), Leila Hopkin (Div. 3), Deanni Schindle (Div. 5), Sean Lehman (Div 3). Alberto Sovernigo (Div. 4), Steve Kitt (Div. 5), and Peter Klassen (Div. 6). _ Runners-up include: Tanya Robinson (Div. 5), Yvonne Hoeller (Div. 6), lan Johnson (Div. 3), Steve Bolt (Div. 5), Sean Heinrich (Div. 5), and Andrew Ballentyne (Div. 2). Other Cruisers making a splash in the news lately were Nathan Pinfield and Jackie Parnell after strong performances at the Richmond “A” meet July 10. Pinfield tied for the Division ft (8 years and under) aggregate trophy with golds in the 100m Breast and 50m Back, a bronze in the 50m Free and a fourth in the 50 Fly. And taking a medal for runner-up in Division 7 was Parnell, who set a new pool record when taking the gold in the 50m Fly.
