Thirteen members of the

NorWesters track and field .

club travelled to Victoria
Saturday for the Autumn
Championships and several
obtained Junior Develop-
ment Gold Standard as a
result of their performances.

Results were as follows:

Scott Thitchener captured
three golds, in the 100m,
400m, 1500m and a fourth
place in the long jump in the
1973 division.

Dylan Griffith competed
in eight events in the 1971
division.'He was first in the
discus, second in the high
jump, third in the 400m,
1500m, and shot put, fourth
in the 80m hurdles, fifth in

Caroline Bodwell was first

Kypriaki wins opener

North Shore's Kypriaki
soccer club opened the
season on a winning note
Sunday when they downed
the Vancouver Firemen 3-0
at Kilmer Park in Vancouver
Metro division one play.

Both sides were scoreless
after the first half, in a game
which saw some hard
tackling but also featured
good passing by both teams.

Kypriaki opened the
scoring in the 55th minute,

when Dave Deeming, who
was playing as a substitute,
caught the far ‘corner of the
net with his first kick of the
game.

Doug Reed then scored on
a corner by Deeming, and
Paul Granger finished the
scoring on a breakway pass
from Paul Woodward.

Outstanding defensive
players for Kypriaki were
Paul Woodward and Stuart
Brodrick, while

goalkeeper Bruce Bell had
his first shutout.

Kypriaki’s next game is
this Saturday, in Richmond
Park, Burnaby, against the
B.C. Games silver medal
winning Burnaby Edmonds.
