A common heritage ‘bylaw —

for all three North Shore

municipalities is the first aim

of the newly formed North
Shore Heritage Advisory
Committee, which held its
meeting
Thursday.

The proposal by the
committee’s chairman-elect,

Art Davies, was backed by
North Van District Mayor

Don Bell. Senior civic and

from the three municipalities
attended the meeting.

Davies said the municipal-

ities would benefit from

$100 grant.

Guest speaker was Rhonna
Fleming, chairman of the
Vancouver heritage advisory
committee set up in 1974.
She described how her group
had lost the fight to save
King George School because
of lack of preparation.

David Grubbe, vice-pres-.

ident of the North Shore
Historical Society, told the
meeting he had recently
made a detailed inventory of
17 historic buildings in North
Vancouver.
