Valley History talk set By Layne Christensen News Reporter laynce@nsnew.com HISTORIAN Eric Crossin will lead a slide show and talk on the history of the Seymour Valley Wednesday. The Aug. 13 event takes place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Seymour Demonstration Forest’s new education building, located at the north end of the Rice Lake parking lot. Following the show, Seymour Demonstration Forest education staff will host a walk back in time to Rice Lake to discover ald corduroy’ logging roads, wood pipes and other past uses of th the Seymour lands. _ An additional extended walk along the Seymour River is planned for Saturday, Aug. 16, 1 p.m. to 4p.m. Admission is $3 for the lecture and $4 for the walk. Pre-registration is a must since insufficient registration three days in advance of the event will lead to canceila- tion. The Greater Vancouver Regional District has estab- lished the Parks Choices pro- gram to help guide the future Jook of regional parks. “If you are interested in keeping the park as is or if you have other ideas, GVRD Parks welcomes your partici- pation in its consultation activities,” said GVRD com- munications officer Jennifer Priest. The GVRD_ has planned two evening discussions to take place at Capilano River Regional Park. The first session is Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Salmon Hatchery. The second is Aug. 20 at Cleveland Dam. Both. ses- sions run 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The GVRD is hosting a free bus tour of regional parks on Monday, Aug. 25.
