Future of
Cap College
discussed

CAPILANO College has organized
a series of community forums to
gather public input into for-
mulating the college's updated
‘mission statement’ or future di-
rection and ambitions.

According to the college, its
mission statement is being updated
to maintain the college’s reputa-
tion for excellence and to reflect
the political, economic, technolog-
ical, social and demographic
changes taking place in the col-
lege’s environment.

The college’s basic mission ‘‘is
to become a post-secondary in-
stitution of first choice for stu-
dents and to enable them to con-
tribute effectively as responsible
citizens in a rapidly changing
global community.’’

High priorities in formulating
the college’s mission statement in-
clude teaching and learning condi-
tions, the needs of students and the
community and the college’s fiscal
and educational accountability.

Community forums focusing on
the college’s mission statement will
take place Monday, Dec. 4 at the
Squamish Capilano College cam-
pus, 37827 Second Ave.,-.
Squamish; Wednesday, Dec. 6 at
the Lynnmour campus, 2055
Purcell Way, North Vancouver;
and Thursday, Dec. 7 at the col-
lege’s Sechelt campus, 5627 Inlet
Ave., Sechelt.

All of the meetings are sched-
uled to start at 7 p.m.
