In the opening game Hunter Steele of Forest Hills was master- ful in hurling a one hitter. The fielding was flawless, and Garfield Miller of West Vancouver drove in three runs as the North Shore All-Stars beat the Kabe, Japan little leaguers, 5-1. The second game was played with a smaller, rubberized baseball used in Japan's little league. It began with Garth Prowse of Highlands blasting a two-run homer. However, the three North Shore pitchers struggled with the smaller ball and an umpire who seemed to have difficulty seeing the corners of the plate.
