NORTH VANCOUVER'S Tracy
Westerhoim will be seen live on
televison around the world Nov. 12
when she competes in the interna-
tional Miss World pageant.

“I’m not nervous at all,’’ said
Westerholm, 24, who lo represent
Canada was chosen from a bevy of
beauties four weeks ago when con-
test officials viewed tapes of the
hopefuls.

Westerholm's first foray into the
world of beauty pageants came in
1985 when she won the Miss
Summer Madness title in a contest
sponsored by a Vancouver televi-
sion station,

Since then it has been various
modelling jobs and bit parts in the
B.C.-filmed Steve Martin movie
Roxanne and the film A Stranger
Waits .

Despite the stiff competition —

86 countries will be represented in
the event — the North Vancouver
beauty is sure she will win the title,
which would land her $250,000
worth of prizes and endorsements
all over the world.

Modelling since she was 19 vears
old, the long-haired brunette ex-
pects the Miss World contest to be
the start of something big. ‘I
won’t be coming back,’’ she said
with bravado. ‘I'm going to win.”

Pageant seeks teen contestants

MISS TEEN Vancouver Lower Mainland is again ac-
cepting applications from girls 14 to 174% years old
for the Feb. 1, 1988, regional beauty competition.

The Miss Teen Vancouver winner will then go on to
compete in the Miss Teen Canada pageant in Toronto
on March 2, 1988, to vie for the national crown.

Last year’s Miss Teen Vancouver winner was Laura

Cremea, then 17, of Burnaby.

Entries are being accepted from teenage girls from
all over the Lower Mainland — including the North
Shore — and must reach the organizers by Jan. 1.

Forms are available from 124 West 16th St. in
North Vancouver, or 1708-A 152 St. in White Rock.
