store chemical products at
its proposed plant on the
waterfront.

Enivironmentalists and
their organizations have pro-
“tested this move ever since
the new plant was proposed
and have demanded that a
public hearing be ordained
by council. _

Council_have steadfastly
refused to do this because
they say that they are

- completely satisfied that the
Dow proposal presents no
greater hazard, possibly less,
than, a gas station, or any
other industry which uses
chemicals in its processes.

The clincher, Tuesday, for
council was an August 3

report by District Fire Chief

Along with Dow safety
engineers and fire experts,
he had studied all the safety
procedures in use in these
two sites to compare them
with the Dow proposals in
North Vancouver, where
EDC will be stored.
