The day’s festivities at the 1433 Lonsdale Ave. shopping area begin at 9:30 a.m. with enter- tainment and the jazz-R&B sounds from a locai quintet. Teams of face painters will create works of art for the young and young at heart, with all of the proceeds going to the North Shore Rescue Team. Rescue team members will be on hand at the festivities. Vancouver firemen will be on hand from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. autographing copies of their new Hall of Flame calendar, a popular best-seller. All calendar proceeds go to the Vancouver General Hospital burn unit. “The court will be filled with music and fun all day as street entertainers dazzle people with their energy and talents,” said publicist Dianne Costin. Pumpkins will be given out to children in costume and seniors while supplies fast; as well, prizes will be awarded to festival-goers throughout the day. The Court’s Jack Lonsdale’s Pub will hold a masquerade party that evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with prizes awarded each hour for the best costumes.
