FOR THE second year in a row, a
Sutherland Secondary stuuent has
been honored with the $5,000
Premier’s Award of Excellence.

Tracey Leacock, 17, is this
year’s Capilano College region
recipient. Last year, the award was
won by Louise Woznow.

One Premier’s Award is given
yearly in each of the 15 college
regions of the province. The award
recognizes a student who demon-
strates a very high level of academ-
ic achievement, involvement in
school affairs and community ser-
vice.

Leacock also received the Gov-
emor-General’s medal as the
highest ranking student in the grad
class and Simon Fraser Universi-
ty’s President’s Entrance Scholar-
ship.

Leacock also found time to par-
ticipate in both the student council
and the CounterAttack organiza-
tion, as well as the Shad Valley
Science Summer Program in 1987,
the French language summer im-
mersion program in Quebec and
the Canada Awareness program at
the Terry Fox Centre.

Leacock is planning to begin
Studies at SFU towards a degree in
linguistics.
