HALLOWEEN means trick or
treat, ghoulish customs, parties,
apple bobbing, autumn chill and
burning leaves.

But the traditions of Halloween
have roots that go back through
history into magic, superstition,
dead spirits and Christian ritual.

Witch Jean Kozacari is an expert
on Halloween and will be tracing
the history of this ritual at the 6th
Annual ESP Psychic Holistic Fair

in the PNE Forum, October 23 to
26

She says that ‘Halloween is
celebrated everywhere. The
Anglo-Saxons believed the spirits
of those who died during the year
remained close to their homes and
families tc gradually get used to
separation. On Halloween, a huge
coach made of human _ bones
would roll down the street, would
gather up the souls and take them
off. It was very important —
unless you wanted to be haunted

for the next year — that the souls
of your loved ones be outside when
the coach comes by.’’

Jean Kozacari is a modern-day
witch who lives with her husband
and four children in Oak Bay, Vic-
toria.

She will be at the fair along with
over 80 international, national and
local clairvoyants, psychics and
healers offering everything from
handwriting analysis, palm reading,
computerized astrological com-
patability charts to tarot readings.
