What is really at the heart of the anti- free speechers complaint, however, is not that city councillors backed the motion. What reaily galls them is that there is the appearance that their arch-enemy Doug Collins, retired North Shore Mews columnist, has someliow won similar city backing. Nothing could be further from the truth. City council in its typically tim- orous manner made a great show when it did approve the motion that it was not backing Mr. Collins or his views. City council simply saw that the human rights amendments contained in Bill 33 applied to everyone in the province, not just Mr. Coilins. ‘Even they could see the danger in it.
